The Best Sound In The World

I got to hear my little one’s heartbeat for the very first time today. For those of you who don’t know the ends-and-outs of early pregnancy, you can SEE the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks gestation, but it is difficult to HEAR it for many weeks after that. It’s a different type of dopler wave…. way to complicated for me to understand lol.

Well, I rented (and eventually purchased) a fetal dopler from babybeat.com when I was pregnant with Nathan. After so many losses, I really needed the piece of mind of being able to hear him whenever I had worries. I absolutely LOVE it! With him, I didn’t purchase it till I was 11 weeks, because that it the time that dr.s usually attempt to find it. But with this baby, I did some research and found out that the heatbeat can be detected as early as 7 weeks. It’s just really super hard to find, and there were several warnings about NOT PANICKING if you can’t find it. I had developed a pretty good technique after having used it for so long with Nathan, so I felt comfortable trying to find this little one a bit earlier. I’ve been trying since 7 weeks, and today, I finally found it! It was so amazing!

It was also really awesome because Dh was off work today, so he was laying next to me when I found it! It was so neat hearing how FAST it’s beating, and hearing the tiny swishes as the baby swam around. :)

This is one of the milestone’s that I have been soooo anxious to get to. I hate the early weeks when there are no kicks and no heartbeats to tell you everything is ok. I am DYING to feel a baby kick again, I loved being pregnant with Nathan and feeling him as I went through each day. It helps the time go by faster. I felt his kicks at 18 weeks, I’m hoping I will feel this baby a little earlier, as most subsequent pregnancies do. Just a couple more months!

One last thing, here are a couple belly pictures I’ve taken over the last few weeks. I don’t have the best stomach in the world anymore, but it is worth it to have my beautiful babies!

There’s definitely some “rounding” happening lol!
